Hi, I'm Taylor

I've spent two decades running infrastructure at scale. I led SRE and Operations at Basecamp/37signals for nearly a decade, helped customers architect on Google Cloud, and now work on AI and platform engineering at Epic. On the side I ship my own products, rebuild boats with my own hands, and raise five kids with my wife of 17 years.

Things I've built

Fresh Deck

An AI presentation platform with generative slides, a layer-based editor and a Cinematic Mode. Runs on Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects, Hono and React, with an AI-driven marketing pipeline built around it.

Your Slides Suck

Fresh Deck's blunt little sibling. Same engine, sharper pitch, wired up with Cloudflare Service Bindings and Stripe.

First Phone, Done Right

A workshop and done-with-you service that helps parents set up a kid's first iPhone properly.

Bathymetric fishing charts

Custom relief-shaded seafloor maps generated from open hydrographic data with GDAL, QGIS and Leaflet, built to find structure offshore.

What I work with

These days I'm most interested in agentic AI: MCP, RAG, sandboxing agents in Firecracker microVMs, and serving open-weights models on GPUs with vLLM and SGLang. I also like taking hardware apart on the network to see what it's really saying.

On the water

I run offshore into the Gulf for grouper and snapper, mixing old-school bottom rigs with slow-pitch jigging, or cruising the Intracoastal down to Boca Grande. I do my own boat work: structural fiberglass, hatch recores, custom switch panels, and a portable emergency crash pump built into a hard case.

Off the clock

Piano

Mostly piano, with some acoustic guitar on the side.

An overbuilt home lab

UniFi top to bottom, custom HomeKit firmware on the garage door, and an M4 Mac mini at the desk.

Lawn, by the numbers

Seashore paspalum and zoysia, fertilized from soil tests rather than guesswork.

Rivian R1S

Electric, and detailed far more carefully than it needs to be.

Making and carrying

3D printing around the house and a soft spot for well-engineered pocket knives.

Community

HOA treasurer, and an advocate for local traffic and school-pickup safety.
